If you’ve ever wanted to write a beautiful birthday card or place name, this is the course for you.
Calligrapher Susie Deane has been teaching handwriting and calligraphy at the Idler Academy for more than two years, and her courses are useful, enjoyable and even meditative. Says one student, “Susie was an absolute delight to be taught by”.
Now you have the chance to explore the different tools and styles involved in calligraphy at home.
In this eight part course, Susie shows you what equipment you need to get started and gets you writing your first letters and numbers. The course gives guidance on layout and spacing as well as instructions for left-handed students and suggestions for little projects to try at home. Calligraphy is stylised but there are plenty of opportunities to play around: letters can be rounded, sharp, compressed, flourished, light, heavy – make it your own.
Our course offers eight lessons across 90 minutes of video, plus helpful notes, calligraphy copy sheets for practising with, further reading, access to the forum and a beautiful certificate of completion.
