Two-week calligraphy course with Susie Deane

Dates: A two-week course from Tuesday 4 December to Tuesday 11 December

Time: 7-8.30pm

Try your hand at calligraphy with expert teacher Susie Deane. In this two-week course, you will have fun exploring different calligraphy tools and styles and making Christmas gift tags and cards.

You will be taught to write italics with a broad edged pen, and you’ll work on making your own festive gift tags, place names and cards using a range of papers and inks. Susie can also guide other Christmas projects or ideas you may have.

This course caters for all levels; beginners are most welcome but if you have followed the Idler Online Calligraphy Course or if you have picked up calligraphy skills elsewhere, there will be scope to be more creative.

“Calligraphy is so hands on, it is difficult to follow from a book,” says Susie. “That’s the beauty of a course.” With Susie’s guidance, problems are quickly sorted and solutions explained.

The course includes a delicious Hendrick’s gin & tonic and a mince pie in each session, and you’ll be given an Idler Academy exercise book. All materials are provided but do bring your own card or paper if you have a particular project in mind.
