Dante’s Divine Comedy in 100 Images with Mark Vernon

Dante’s Divine Comedy is remarkable: a masterpiece of world literature that profoundly changes lives. And yet, at the outset, it is daunting.

This online course offers a unique way into the epic poem. Psychotherapist and philosopher Mark Vernon tells the tale of Dante’s journey through hell, purgatory and paradise, with insightful explanations and reflections, accompanied by 100 of the greatest illustrations that the work has inspired, one for each part or ‘canto’. Dante himself recognised the power of images, and the artwork by genius figures such as Gustav Doré, Sandro Botticelli and William Blake is thrilling and helpful.

Mark Vernon is an expert guide, bringing The Divine Comedy to life 700 years after its publication. Dante was clear he wrote for future generations as much as his own, and The Divine Comedy feels as relevant today as it did in Renaissance Florence. Dante is ready to speak to you now.
