How to Dance with Oliver Broadbent

The aim of this six-session course is to get you dancing. It is based on the lessons that Oliver Broadbent has been giving for the Idler Academy at festivals for over ten years, sometimes on his own and sometimes with Swing Dance group the Mudflappers.  Each year at the the Idler Festival you’ll find Oliver on the main lawn between headline acts getting everyone on their feet and dancing.

If you’ve seen Oliver teaching at the Idler Festival or at an Idler tent at another festival then you’ll know the following: no experience is necessary, no partner necessary, just a willingness to have a bit of fun and not to worry about looking silly, and before you know it you’ll be dancing.

In this six lesson course you’ll learn moves from the Charleston and how to adapt them to modern day dancing and your own improvisation.

Oliver’s fun and playful lessons will give you the confidence to have a dance whenever a catchy tune comes on and you have an idle moment to spare.
