Every Thursday, the Idler is hosting an online get together. Idler editor Tom Hodgkinson and philosopher Mark Vernon share helpful wisdom from ancient philosophy. This week’s special guest is actor Dominic West who will be in conversation with Tom about being idle in a lockdown. Your host will be Victoria Hull. The discussion will be followed by a live Q&A.
Dominic West is an award-winning English actor, musician and director. Acclaimed star of The Wire, his other television credits include Appropriate Adult, for which he won a BAFTA award, and The Affair, which garnered him a Golden Globe nomination.
Dr Mark Vernon is a psychotherapist, a writer, broadcaster and teacher. His most recent books include – The Idler Guide To Ancient Philosophy (Idler Books), Love: All That Matters (Hodder). He broadcasts on the BBC and can often be head on Moral Maze. He began his professional life as a priest in the Church of England.
Tom is editor of the Idler and author of the best-selling manuals, How to be Idle and How to be Free. Other books include a book on smallholding called Brave Old World, a book on parenting, the Ukulele Handbook and, most recently, a manual for creative entrepreneurs, Business for Bohemians.
