A Drink with the Idler | Tim Richardson on How Humans Have Shaped Landscapes
£7.50
Join “A Drink with the Idler” as we interview art critic and Idler contributor Tim Richardson about the ways in which landscapes have been moulded by humankind throughout the ages.
From small gardens to entire cities, humans have always moulded their environment to express or symbolise ideas of power, order, comfort, harmony, pleasure and mystery. Join Idler editor Tom Hodgkinson as he chats to Tim Richardson about the seminal text on landscape architecture, The Landscape of Man by Geoffrey and Susan Jellicoe, and how we still shape, and are shaped by, landscapes, from large-scale urban planning to small community gardens.
The discussion between Tim and Tom will be followed by a live Q&A when you will be given the chance to ask Tim your own questions.
We’ll have a philosophical “Thought for the Week” from Dr Mark Vernon and the event will be hosted by Idler Academy director Victoria Hull.
This is an online event. It should be like meeting up in the pub for an interesting conversation. We leave the meeting open at the end so you can carry on chatting.
