THIS book is absolutely essential for any self-respecting modern person’s library. I could read Edward Lear over and over for ever and ever. He has the best rhythm I think of pretty much any poet. The rhymes are gorgeous and the poems are very often about running away from Victorian England or wandering alone and in search of a Jumbly girl. They are deeply romantic. We have just taken delivery of this beautiful NOA (Not On Amazon) Folio Society edition of the Complete Nonsense and I recommend it wholeheartedly as a Christmas present, particularly as we will pack it beautifully and pop a snail badge in with the order.
