My new book, Business for Bohemians, is officially published on 6 October.
I’ve had a terrific response from the entrepreneurs I sent advance copies to: Luke Johnson called the book “brilliant… an exceedingly readable and useful handbook for those who choose to make the leap and control their own destiny.”
You can order signed copies of the book direct from us, or order in the usual way from those unavoidable non-bohemians and destroyers of bookshops, Amazon. Or pop out to your independent bookshop, in the unlikely event that you have one.
During November we’ve organised three live events where I’ll be discussing the themes of the book for small groups at the Albion restaurant in Clerkenwell. On the first of these I’ll be joined by my partner Victoria Hull, and we’ll tell the story of how we opened and ran a bookshop and event space in Notting Hill for five years, then closed it, and then raised £150,000 on Crowdcube to grow the business. Albion will provide drinks and canapés and they’ll also knock 20% off your bill if stay on for dinner.
We’ve suffered every problem that can be thrown at you, from crippling debt, to teetering on the verge of bankruptcy, to staff issues, to VAT problems to customer complaints. Click here to reserve your place at the first event, which takes place on Tuesday 1 November.
In Parts Two and Three of the live series, I’ll be talking to Charles Gladstone, founder of Pedlars and the Good Life Experience festival, and John Brown, who famously published Viz comic.
