Irvine Welsh Comes to Idler Festival 2023

Victoria Hull | 13 Feb 2023 | Events

The Idler Festival is at Fenton House

We are thrilled to announce that Irvine Welsh will be speaking at the Idler Festival in July. Book now for Earlybird tickets: only a few left.

The festival this year will be celebrating 30 years of the Idler so you can expect to be hanging out in the bucolic walled gardens of Fenton House with lots of Idler favourites.

Dates are 7, 8 and 9 July.

Over the next few months we’ll gradually reveal more brilliant performers. Comedian Adam Buxton has already been announced. Today we can confirm two more hilarious comedians will perform. Idler columnist Arthur Smith will lead a walk around the grounds and young Ben Pope will be entertaining us on the main lawn.

Also on the bill are mental health expert Rachel Kelly, author Kamin Mohammadi and the best selling historian, William Dalrymple.

So please do join us for our great gathering of idlers. You’ll be swing dancing to hip hop in between acts on the main lawn, loafing on deck chairs in the orchard, mugging up on philosophy in the dining room. There will be delicious food and tempting drinks, stalls, art and wandering minstrels.

Look out for more announcements. Many more to come. We can’t wait to be with you setting the world to rights.
