New performers announced for Idler Festival

Author Geoff Dyer and psychedelic researcher Dr Robin Carhart-Harris join the line up. Plus limited day tickets are now on sale.

There is just one month to go before the first Idler Festival, and we’re delighted to announce that we’re running an event on the new wave of research into psychedelic drugs.

After Timothy Leary in the 1960s, psychedelics got a bad name. They became associated with jumping out of windows and FBI plots. The last few years however has seen a resurgence of interest in their therapeutic value. Dr Robin Carhart-Harris runs the Psychedelic Research Group at Imperial. He’ll be chatting with author Jules Evans about his research into magic mushrooms and their effect on depression. So do come and open your doors of perception.

We’re also delighted to announce that Geoff Dyer will be joining us for a conversation about his life in writing and new works on the horizon.

As well as our fantastic line-up of authors, there’ll be dancing, harmonica and ukulele lessons, philosophy with Mark Vernon, beekeeping and calligraphy. Plus the Idler Good Stuff Market featuring everything from books to frocks, letterpress to lamps, all from independent British makers.

Weekend tickets cost £90 and are available here.

We are now also selling day tickets:

Friday tickets: £35 — click here for line up and to book.
Saturday tickets: £45 — click here for line up and to book.
Sunday tickets: £45 — click here for line up and to book.
