As Easter approaches, Mark Vernon suggests that the non-religious go to church to celebrate it
IN MEDIEVAL TIMES, Easter was often celebrated by local performances of the Mystery Plays – dramas that caught the intimacy, tragedy and humanity of the story. The Mysteries are being revived, perhaps in a theatre near you.
An alternative is to try a church that keeps the Triduum, or “three days”, by deploying lots of symbol, action and light in the liturgy of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Eve. In this podcast, Mark Vernon talks about what you might experience and find.
