Thank you to Margit from Vienna who sent us this lovely picture of a sleeping dog from a stained glass window in a Dutch church. Margit says: “When I read about your plans for a column of Sleeping Dogs, a picture came to my mind immediately. I bought this postcard after a visit to the marvellous Sint Janskerk in Gouda in the Netherlands. The sleeping dog appears in several of the beautiful glass windows. In this picture he is called “De Hemelvaart Hondje” (“The Ascension Dog”). If I remember well, the sleeping dog is a symbol for faith… or maybe he was just tired.”
Please send us photographs of your dog asleep to mail@idler.co.uk. Please include the dog’s name and breed (if any) and your location. We like pictures of sleeping cats, too.
