Last night at the Idler: Adam Buxton

15 May 2015 | Merriment

THANKS TO ADAM Buxton for a fantastic Idler Academy gig last night at the Westbourne Grove Church.

Sides rocked and bellies ached for an hour and twenty minutes as Adam exposed the contents of his laptop to a two-hundred strong crowd.

Mr Buxton revealed his own new dictionary of new words.

About half through the proceedings, Adam mildly upbraided an audience member for filming him. “It’s for my fifteen year old son,” said the lady. “Oh I see, and he’s in a wheelchair I suppose,” retorted Adam. The mother in question turned out to be actress Natasha McElhone, and Adam made up for humiliating her by phoning the son in question at the end of the gig.

We’ll leave you with this picture of extreme merriment in the audience, say thank you to Adam, and hope to see him again at an Idler event soon.

Thanks to John and the team at Westbourne Grove Church for being such great hosts once again.
