WE ARE NOW taking bookings for our Business for Bohemians course. The course is designed for creative people who would like to turn their passion into a proper business. We have put together a fantastic array of speakers and seminars designed to help with you all the practicalities, from spreadsheets and marketing to P&Ls and ROIs, not to mention the art of negotiation and selling. We believe that business must be studied as a skill in itself, like carpentry, and this course will help you to do that in an enjoyable and convivial fashion.
We’ll help you to think creatively about what you want to do and give you the tools to make your vision into something real.
Once again we have lined up top entrepreneurs for you. Our speakers include James Reed, chairman of reed.co.uk. Britain’s biggest recruitment agency; Tony Elliot, founder of Time Out and the Time Out group, which from small beginnings in the sixties counter-culture has grown to a worldwide brand; Richard Wharton, who is the co-founder of Office shoes, which he built up from nothing, and Nigel House, co-founder of Rough Trade Shops, which now has branches in London, Nottingham and Brooklyn, NY.
Tom Hodgkinson and Victoria Hull of the Idler will discuss the ups and downs of working for yourself. There will be practical sessions on marketing, accounting, branding, management, systems and tech stuff from consultancy Clever Boxer.
The course consists of eight evening workshops and talks, plus two full day workshops. Each student is also offered an hour’s one-to-one consultation to discuss and develop their specific business idea.
The course starts on Thursday 24 September and runs till Thursday 12 November.
